







Start by making the apple cake by creaming the butter with the granulated sugar in a bowl until you get a fluffy mixture.
Add the eggs, one at a time, the milk and the lemon zest. Mix well after each addition.
Add the sifted flour and baking powder, then mix with a spatula to combine. Also add a pinch of salt.
Peel the apples, cut them into not-too-large cubes and add them to the batter, mixing carefully. Place everything inside a 24-centimeter round springform pan, buttered and floured as needed, smoothing well with a spoon.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center of the cake comes out dry. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before unmolding. Serve the apple cake dusted, if desired, with icing sugar.
It can be served with icing sugar, whipped cream or ice cream. Store in a cool place under a glass dome for 1-2 days.
