Messorio Bolgheri Il Toscana Rosso Messorio from Cantina Le Macchiole is produced in vineyards located in the municipality of Bolgheri. It is made exclusively from Merlot grapes, handpicked between the first and second week of September. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for 20 days. Subsequently, the wine ages in barriques for 14 months before bottling. It is characterized by a deep ruby red color. On the nose, it opens with fruity scents of raspberry and currant, enriched by pleasant spicy notes. On the palate, it is rich and intense, with very persistent aromas. The wine has a pleasant sweet finish and tannins. Perfect to accompany meat ragù dishes and risottos, it is ideal paired with game, stews, and roasts. Characterized by slow growth due to a cool and rainy spring, the harvest period was deliberately delayed. The vines were helped by leaf removal and cluster aeration to mature and concentrate the grapes optimally. Assisted by splendid weather at the end of summer, grapes rich in polyphenols, acidity, and sugars were harvested in excellent conditions. The strong temperature difference between day and night helped maintain aromas, giving the wine great complexity. The wines are fresh, with a lower alcohol content than in the past, and both whites and reds express mineral notes, strong aromas, good tannic structure balanced by splendid acidity. Alcohol content: 14% Pairings: Truffled duck breast. Serving temperature: 16-18°C Sommelier's comment: Bright ruby color. Wide and elegant aromas of black cherries, blackberry jam, Mediterranean scrub, cloves, cardamom, juniper, alternating with aromas of chocolate, licorice, and mint. Imposing, round tasting perfected by energetic and perfectly extracted tannins. Long mineral finish.
